How To Start A Make Money Online Blog Part 4

This will be the last installment on the How To Start A Make Money Online Blog Series. In this article, I will tackle the different settings you could tweak to make it easier to have your blog be indexed by search engines.

On Part 3 of How To Start A Make Money Online Blog, I have discussed the advantages of using the Blogger platform compared to other free blog providers. Now that you have your own Blogger blog, it's time to tweak some of its settings to optimize it for search engines.

If you go to your Dashboard, you will see three categories for your blog: Posting, Settings and Layout. In the POSTING section, there is nothing that you really can tweak since this is where you create new posts.

The SETTINGS section is where most of the optimization can happen. Once you click on the SETTINGS tab, you will directed to the SETTINGS page

SETTINGS -> BASIC

TITLE:

This is where you put the title of your blog. One way of optimizing this section is to include your targeted keywords as part of your title.

Example: If your title is "Karlo's Blog" and your targeted keyword is "Make Money Online", then you can put "Karlo's Blog | Make Money Online"

DESCRIPTION:

Optimizing this part is just the same with the TITLE. Instead of describing it in paragraph form, use your targeted keywords instead and separate them with the "|" character.

Example: Make Money Online | Money Making Online | How To Make Money Online

ADD BLOG TO OUR LISTINGS : Yes

LET SEARCH ENGINES FIND YOUR BLOG: Yes

SHOW QUICK EDITING ON YOUR BLOG: This is up to you

SHOW EMAIL POST LINKS: This is up to you

ADULT CONTENT: This depends on the content of your blog

SHOW COMPOSE MODE FOR ALL YOUR BLOGS: This is up to you

TRANSLITERATION: This is up to you

In the comments area of the SETTINGS Page, I highly recommend that you allow everyone, even anonymous people, to comment on your blog.

How To Start A Make Money Online Blog Part 3

Welcome to the part 3 of How To Start A Make Money Online Blog. In this post, I will tackle the advantageous aspect of using Blogger compared to other free blog platforms which is customization. Other popular platforms such as Wordpress.com do not give users as much freedom as Blogger does.

One of the best things that Blogger offers its users is the ability to customize the look of the blog. If you know how to handle CSS then you are well on your way to being able to create the look that you want your blog to have. It would even be better if you also know how to program using XML.

But if you do not have any programming skills, you need not fret. There are a lot of Web Sites out there that gives free Blogger Layouts/ Templates for free. You need but to choose one and upload it to your Blogger account.

However, when your target is to be able to make money online, I always want to follow the rule, "Simpler is better" The more simple your blog design is, the better it is to make money online with. But this is just me. How your blog looks does not really greatly affect on how you can make money online for as long as you know how to manipulate it.

Another customization which makes Blogger the better choice is that they encourage you to put ads on your blog specifically Google Adsense. Unlike other free blog platforms that discourage this, Blogspot actually wants you to do it.

Now that you have a Blogger blog, look for the what you think is the best template/ layout for your blog and use it. On the 4th installment of the How To Start A Make Money Online Blog, I will be tackling about the different settings of your Blogger blog to optimize it for search engines.

How To Start A Make Money Online Blog Part 2

I apologize for the delay on the Part 2 of How To Start A Make Money Online Blog. I was quite busy with some things thus leaving me no time for this blog. Anyway, on to How To Start A Make Money Online Blog Part 2.

Part 2 of the How To Start A Make Money Online Blog will be about choosing the domain/ subdomain name. Subdomain is the thebloggernamedkarlo in the URL http://thebloggernamedkarlo.blogspot.com while domain name is http://www.nameofblog.com.

In Blogger, it is quite difficult to get the subdomain that you want especially if you choose to use common words. Why? Because most often than not, other bloggers are already using them. This most especially true if you use very popular keywords. However, if you choose to use your name as the subdomain, there is a big chance that it will still be available.

Choosing A Domain/ Subdomain Name

A lot of people say that it does not really matter what you choose as your domain/ subdomain name. For me personally, I think it is. Having your targeted keywords as part of your domain/ subdomain name can help you especially when it comes to search results. Here is an example:

Targeted Keywords: latest nike shoes

I think it would be better if you choose a domain name like http://www.latestnikeshoes.com or a subdomain of http://latestnikeshoes.blogspot.com. This will help your blog to be found easier by search engines most especially Google.

If by any chance your targeted keywords, in this case latest nike shoes, is not available, you can opt to add other words. Example, if http://latestnikeshoes.blogspot.com is unavailable, you can add the preposition "THE" - http://thelatestnikeshoes.blogspot.com. If it is still unavailable, you can still add other words for as long as your main keyword is there.

But this rule is actually optional. This is just a good technique wherein you can help your blog be found easier by search engines using your targeted keywords. You can make any domain/ subdomain that you want even without your main keywords. You may have a subdomain of http://thebloggernamedkarlo.blogspot.com even though my main target keyword is "latest nike shoes".

How To Start A Make Money Online Blog Part 1

There are a lot of ways on how you can make money online. You can create Web sites and use e-mails, and other mediums to do this. But it is already Web 2.0 and I think the best way to make money on the Internet is through a blog thus I created the blog The Blogger Named Karlo.

With a blog, a plethora of opportunities is opened up to you to make money online.


What To Choose

There are two ways on how you can create a blog. First is you can pay for a domain name and a web host. If you do not want to spend on a web host, you can also avail of free web host services such as that from 000Webhost. Second method is to avail of free blogging services provided by different Web sites.

In this post, I will only be tackling only the second method (the first method will be discussed on another post) since with this, you wouldn't need to shell out any money. There are only three things you need: a computer, Internet connection and time.

Wordpress.com is probably one of the most popular site that provide free blogs to bloggers. You only need to have an email, subscribe for a free blog and voila you now have a blog. However, I do not recommend wordpress.com that much if your blog is purely for monetization purposes since they have a policy against this.

Blogspot or Blogger are one and the same though they have different names and different URLs. For me, I think this is the best free blog provider for a number of reasons. One, is it's free. Two, it is under Google which can give you an edge in terms of being indexed. Three, it is highly customizible. And four, they encourage making money online.

There are still a lot of other Web sites that provide this kind of service but I will only be mentioning Wordpress.com and Blogspot/Blogger. Every money making method I'll be posting here though will be based on Blogspot/Blogger since it is what I am using for the blog The Blogger Named Karlo.
