Part 2 of the How To Start A Make Money Online Blog will be about choosing the domain/ subdomain name. Subdomain is the thebloggernamedkarlo in the URL http://thebloggernamedkarlo.blogspot.com while domain name is http://www.nameofblog.com.

In Blogger, it is quite difficult to get the subdomain that you want especially if you choose to use common words. Why? Because most often than not, other bloggers are already using them. This most especially true if you use very popular keywords. However, if you choose to use your name as the subdomain, there is a big chance that it will still be available.

Choosing A Domain/ Subdomain Name

A lot of people say that it does not really matter what you choose as your domain/ subdomain name. For me personally, I think it is. Having your targeted keywords as part of your domain/ subdomain name can help you especially when it comes to search results. Here is an example:

Targeted Keywords: latest nike shoes

I think it would be better if you choose a domain name like http://www.latestnikeshoes.com or a subdomain of http://latestnikeshoes.blogspot.com. This will help your blog to be found easier by search engines most especially Google.

If by any chance your targeted keywords, in this case latest nike shoes, is not available, you can opt to add other words. Example, if http://latestnikeshoes.blogspot.com is unavailable, you can add the preposition "THE" - http://thelatestnikeshoes.blogspot.com. If it is still unavailable, you can still add other words for as long as your main keyword is there.

But this rule is actually optional. This is just a good technique wherein you can help your blog be found easier by search engines using your targeted keywords. You can make any domain/ subdomain that you want even without your main keywords. You may have a subdomain of http://thebloggernamedkarlo.blogspot.com even though my main target keyword is "latest nike shoes".
